 Guidelines for CSS Exams

To select the civil Gazetted officers cadre, The Federal Public Service Commission Conducts a competitive exam every year. The CSS Exam dates are announced on every type of media by the commission well before the exam. To ensure that the right candidates are selected, the commission conducts very types of mentally rigorous exams, including Written test, Psychological test, medical test and oral test in the shape of viva/interview.

Written Exam: The written exam is conducted for 1200 marks. The exam is from six compulsory subjects which carry 600 marks and the candidates have the option to select other optional subject from the given list for rest of the 600 marks. In each paper, two types of questions are asked, MCQs and subjective questions. For the MCQs, the candidates will be issued computerised OMR answer sheets, whereas, the subjective papers have to be solved on the separate answer sheets. Appearing in the compulsory subjects is mandatory for appearing in the rest of the exam. The subjects having 200 marks is comprised of two papers each, whereas, the subjects having rotal of 100 marks will have only one paper. To Qualify the exam, a candidate has to secure 40% marks in all of the compulsory subjects and 35% in every optional subject or they must get an aggregate of 50%.
